You do not need to have a diagnosed learning disability in order to access LDAY services. Tutoring is available for children and youth with learning difficulties or differences. If your student is struggling academically, contact Arlin by phone or email for an initial consultation.

Our child & youth services include the following:

  • What are the first steps for supporting a struggling student? What information does the family already know, or what still needs to be investigated? What supports might be useful to help the student? Arlin can help families navigate these first questions.

  • If you or a teacher suspect your student may have dyslexia or other reading difficulties, LDAY can administer some basic screeners and diagnostics. These measures are not a full assessment or diagnosis. They provide information about your student’s strengths and weaknesses for specific reading skills and can help identify appropriate literacy interventions.

    The screeners used may include Acadience K-6, Acadience 7-8, the CORE Phonics Survey, Words Their Way Spelling Inventory, or TILLS: Test of Integrated Language & Literacy Skills.

  • LDAY has a pool of contracted tutors to support students who are having difficulty learning at school. If you are seeking academic support for your student, visit our tutoring page for an overview of the process.

  • Sometimes meetings with a school or other agency staff about your child can be stressful and intimidating. LDAY can:

    • Support parents to work with their child’s school or other agencies;

    • Provide suggestions to make these meetings positive and productive;

    • Accompany parents to meetings and help you work in partnership with your child’s teachers and other service providers;

    • Take a collaborative, partnership-based approach to advocacy.

  • LDAY does not provide psycho-educational assessments, although we do keep a list of local psychologists who offer them. For more information, contact Stephanie at 867-668-5167.

What about ADHD?

We get a lot of calls about ADHD. ADHD is not considered a learning disability, so it is not our primary area of expertise. We can help in areas where learning and ADHD overlap, like executive function challenges.
